Battle Cats Cake - Tin Cat

Tin Cat's spaceship is made with crispy rice treats.  One recipe of crispy rice should be enough.  Prepared rice crispy treats is enough too.
Crispy rice treats:
3 cups mini marsmallow
5 cups crispy rice treat
1/4 cup butter

Place butter in a large glass bowl.  Melt butter in microwave for 1 minute.  Stir in mini marsmallow.  Microwave for 1 minute until marsmallow are melted.  Incorporate rice crispies into marsmallow until well coated.  Let sit for a 5 minutes.

SCULPTING THE SPACESHIP

Materials needed:

One 6" wide ball cake pan
shortening
pastry brush
10" cake board

The wingspan of the spaceship is close to 10".  I grabbed a handful of rice treats and started forming two 1" thick wings.  ( See picture for template).  I then greased one of the ball cake pan with shortening and stuff it with rice treats.

Place the wings on the 10" cake board.  Unmold the rice treats in the ball cake pan.
Place it on top of the wings.  Reshape the crispies treats according to desired shape.
I ended up adding more crispy treats on the back end of the space ship.

Covered the whole thing with shortening base buttercream.  Place it in the fridge for
15 minutes.  Take the rice treat spaceship out of fridge once buttercream is firm to the
touch.  Take a clean paper towel and smooth out the surface of the buttercream.

Cover the whole space ship with grey fondant.  After all the trimmings are added I painted the whole ship with silver pearl dust and purple pearl dust dissolved in vodka.

TIN CAT

It is made with 2 layers of 6" cakes: 6" round cake and 6" ball shaped cake.  I stacked the two cake layers on an 8" cake board.  I put a thin layer of buttercream crumb coat on the cake, chilled it for 30 minutes or until the buttercream is firm to the touch.  On the cake I used a buttercream prepared with real unsalted butter.   I smoothed out the cake and covered it with white fondant.  I then proceeded to adding all the finishing touches to the cake.
